Time Flies...When You're Busy!

I can't believe the last time I posted was on the 19th. It has been a little busy here. Dave came home Friday night and returned again on Sunday night. He made the trip safely and is already a third of the way done with his week. This week he has to stay until Saturday afternoon and will go back again on Monday.

We have basically been doing or normal weekly schedule. Tuesday is the only day in our school week that we don't have to do anything after school. It worked out nicely that I got sick last night and all I had to do today was drive Maddie to school, help out in her classroom and then pick Gabe up from school. After we came home I got in bed and have only gotten up to moderate a few tiffs between the kids and to feed them. They have actually done pretty well and came to check on me a few times. I hope I feel better tomorrow though.

He's there already!

They called on Saturday and said, "Get your butt over here!" So, he got his butt over there. His plane left at 6:40 a.m. our time and arrived in Waterloo (by way of Minneapolis) at 10:30 a.m. their time. It sucks, but you gotta do what you gotta do.

Iowa

Seriously!?!? Iowa!?!? Dave got the call and the offer today. As of February 1st I am pretty sure he will be in Iowa. It's only for 60 days and he'll get to come home on the weekends. If he does well he may be offered the job full time, but from what I've read there's not much to do there except work. If we had to move away I wish it was to somewhere warm.

1st Day of New School Pictures

Here are some pictures of Gabe's first day at "Maddie's School". The teacher said he did fantastic and acted like I was crazy for being concerned about how he would do. I even witnessed him answering a question the teacher asked. He just yelled it out without being told what to say. If I didn't see it/hear it with my own eyes/ears I would not have believed it. I'm really excited to see how he does in the next few months. I really think this is going to give him a push in the right direction.

Gabie Goes To School - Part 2

Gabe is starting a new school tomorrow. I'm all kinds of nervous, but he doesn't seem to care. He's starting at Maddie's school on Monday and Wednesday afternoons. It will be a lot more driving around for me and little less "me" time, but I think it will be worth it in the end. Wish us luck that all goes well tomorrow.

So, do I retake the first day of school pictures?

Conversations with Maddie

Maddie: "Hey, Mommy, I've got an idea!"

Me: "Oh yeah? What's that?"

Maddie: "How 'bout you call the art museum and ask them to hang this picture up in their art museum."

Me: "Umm, ok. I'll get right on that."

I swear. The things she comes up with.

Shhh... I'm not supposed to tell anyone!

(obviously I can't be trusted) Tonight at dinner Maddie and I were making a salad (which she loves). I had put the lettuce, tomatoes, cheese and bacon bits on the counter and walked to the fridge to get some salad dressing. Madison had been instructed to put a little bit of everything in the salad bowl. She put in the lettuce and then the tomatoes and cheese. When she got to the bacon bits she says, "Do you want me to put some of these bacon sh$ts in here too?" It was so hard not to laugh while I explained to her that they were bacon "bits", not "sh$ts". She was so embarrassed and made me promise not to tell anyone.

I figure that since she can't read yet that I can type this in here. As long as I don't utter a word about it, I'll be ok. She will appreciate the recording of this instance later on in life...at least I hope she will.

Photoshop and Twilight Mix!

This year, for Christmas, I asked for money so I could buy an Adobe CS4. I did, and I installed it this morning at 8:30 a.m. I have been playing with it ALL day. I absolutely LOVE it!

So, what have I been doing on Photoshop all day? (Yes, I said Photoshop - I haven't even opened Illustrator yet). Well, I have been "Twilighting" my friend Pam. What is "Twilighting" you ask? Well, Twilight is the first in a series of "tween" books about a family of vampires. Oh, they are SO good. Pam and I are both on Team Edward. I thought the Twilight series was my secret pleasure - that none of my other friends would even like it. Boy was I wrong! Here is the before and after of my "Twilighting".
