Not My Finest Moment

I meant to take a shower this morning, but by the time I bathed the kids, fed them breakfast, played with them, cleaned the house a little bit, fed them lunch, did some laundry, did some more cleaning and played with them a little bit more it was 4:00 p.m. and Dave was getting home from work. Dave went in to wake Gabe up from his nap and he had had an accident so he stripped him down and then stripped the bed down. I started on more laundry and remade Gabe's bed. Then we ate dinner and cleaned up after. We got the kids dressed in their pajamas and they were settling down to watch a TV show so I decided I would sneak into the bathroom and finally take a shower.

As soon as I opened the door and turned the water on Maddie came running in and told me she wanted to take a shower when I was all done. I told her that was fine and that she should go watch TV and I would come and get her when I was done. She wanted to sit on the toilet seat and watch me. I just wanted to take a shower alone, so I told her to go watch TV with Daddy. She walks out and I get in the shower. A few minutes later she comes in with Dave. She went and told on me for making her leave. I was so frustrated I just yelled, "Get out of here and close the door after you." It worked. They both left, but I felt bad for yelling.

When I got out of the shower I went and told Maddie I was done and she came in our bathroom to get in the shower. I told her I was sorry for yelling at her and she said, "That's ok Mommy. You can yell at me anytime you want."

Where does she get this stuff?

Couch to 10K

Here is Dave and Gabe before the race

Here's everyone taking off at the beginning of the race

There's Dave at the beginning of the race

There's Dave towards the end of the race

Here is Dave at the finish line. You can see his time was 1 hour 4 minutes and 58 seconds. Almost a 10 minute mile. He did great and we're all proud of him. He's a little sore right now though.

Bargain Shopping - CVS

My mom has been trying to get me to do the whole couponing thing for quite a while, so since I have 2 hours a day to myself I decided to start. Last week was my first week and I ended up getting an 8 pack of Irish Spring Bar Soap for $2.99 and getting a $2.00 ECB back to use this week.

This week I got a bunch of stuff and I think I did pretty well (although not as well as I thought I would do). I ended up spending $10.07 for all of this.

Potty Training - Hip Hip Hooray!

Gabe told us he had to go pee or poop every single time today. He actually came to us and said, "Daddy, poop." Today was a very happy day! Lets hope it continues.

Chicago Pictures

We went to Chicago to visit my SIL this weekend and had a great time. We went to the zoo and played in Millennium Park and did some shopping on the Magnificent Mile. We all had a blast. Here's some pictures.

Gabe playing in the fountain

Maddie playing in the fountain.

Gabe playing in the "spit".
(The fountain has digital images of people's faces and it looks like the water is being spit out of the person's mouth)

Maddie petting a goat at the children's zoo.

Gabe brushing a goat

This raccoon stuck it's tongue out at me
(some lady threw part of a pb&j sandwich in for him - even though you're not supposed to feed the animals - so, just like a dog, the raccoon kept licking to get the pb off the roof of his mouth)

Every time we see a drinking fountain Gabe has to check it out

First Day of School

Today was Gabe and Maddie's first day of school. They were both so excited. We got up and they ate breakfast.
Then they got dressed, combed their hair, brushed their teeth and put on their shoes. Then we headed outside to take some pictures. I was surprised that Gabe stood still and looked at me for this picture.
We got our neighbor, Mr. Al to take a picture of the three of us (the four of us if you count Bailey barking in the background).
Then we heard the school bus coming so we hurried down the driveway to wait for it.
Gabe was so excited to get on the bus, but he was really good and let me snap a picture.Maddie and I got to get on the bus and see where he would be sitting. I could tell Gabe was really excited to get going.
After Gabe left on his bus Maddie and I got ready to go to her school. Maddie was really sad for Gabe to ride the bus by himself. She said, "What if he gets hurt at school? What if he puts his hand on the floor and someone steps on it?" She was really worried, but we decided that we should be happy that Gabe gets to go to school this year too. Gabe really missed her last year when he didn't get to go.
We got to Maddie's school a little early so we could take some pictures. Maddie wouldn't take a picture with her teacher though. After I dropped Madison off in her classroom I swung by Gabe's school to make sure everything went ok on the bus. He seemed as happy as he could be when he got off. Gabe has an hour bus ride to and from school everyday. He really wanted to ride the bus home today, but I ended up picking him up instead. I will probably let him ride the bus on Thursdays since I have Kinetic Kids at Maddie's school on those days. They are both home now and are playing. When I asked Maddie what she did at school today she said, "We played and we played and we played." I think she had a good time and I know Gabe had a good time.

I can't believe both my babies are in school already.
