Maddie is the New Rebbie...wait, I mean Work, wait, I mean Team

Maddie has been going through a phase where she has declared herself a boy. First her name was Joey, then it was Rebbie, then it was Work, then it was Team. Then, she decided she was 4, then she was 10, then 14. I was very happy when she walked into Gabe's room tonight and said, "Guess what Mom? I'm a girl again!" She then put a too little black dress and high heeled Cinderella shoes on and pranced around the house. I asked her what made her change her mind about being a boy and she said, "Because you're a girl, mom...and you're painting Gabie's room."

(Yes, that's right. You read correctly - I painted Gabie's room today. It is so cute. Dave described it as being "rich". I have to put on a second coat tomorrow and then I'm going to paint some dinosaurs on one of the walls.)

You have no idea how happy I am that Maddie is a girl again. Yeah!!!

Kissy Face

I walked into Maddie's room today and saw her and Gabe close together. Maddie bothers him quite a bit by poking him or pulling on him. I started to tell her to get off of him when I realized what was happening. They both had their arms around each other and were kissing on the lips. Gabe had his little big lips all puckered up and was just kissing away.

Potty Training Pro

Gabe is a potty training pro. Accidents (notice it is plural) are expected on the second night of potty training. He only had one last night. He woke up dry, we took a shower and then he sat on the potty and went pee. It was as simple as that. He's got the pee thing down. Now pooping is a whole other ball game. He didn't go yesterday (that I know of, at least). He is a pretty regular little guy so I am a little alarmed.

First Night Of Potty Training

The potty training actually went pretty well last night. We put him to bed without a bottle. He cried for a few minutes, but then went right to sleep. He went from 8:00 p.m. to 4:00 a.m. without having an accident. We put him back to bed without a bottle again and he cried for a few minutes and then went back to sleep and slept until 7:30 a.m. Then he hasn't had an accident since. I am very surprised. Good job Gabie!

Gabie went pee on the potty!

Yay!!! Gabie went pee on the potty! He got his diaper changed and decided he no longer wanted to wear a diaper. He took it off himself and would not let us put another one on so Maddie went and got him some big boy pants. He put on the Lightning McQueen underpants and thought he was so cool.

We weren't quite prepared for this. We weren't going to start trying until after Easter. I had to go to Target and I got these:
We had this from when Maddie was potty trained. It worked then and he seems to be pretty interested in it now.
I think (hope) that we are now prepared. I'm a little nervous about this, but am going to try and stand my ground. We put him to bed without a bottle tonight and I put a waterproof sheet underneath of him. I know I'll probably be up all night though. Wish me luck!

Me, In Book Form

I saw this here and had to see what it came up with for me.

You're Adventures of Huckleberry Finn!

by Mark Twain

With an affinity for floating down the river, you see things in black
and white. The world is strange and new to you and the more you learn about it, the less
it makes sense. You probably speak with an accent and others have a hard time
understanding you and an even harder time taking you seriously. Nevertheless, your
adventurous spirit is admirable. You really like straw hats.

Gabie got new shoes!

Our Kmart turned into a Sears Essentials and now recently has turned into an all out Sears store. I LOVE LOVE LOVE it! They have a whole Lands End Department and it's so nice and clean.

I went to Sears tonight because our box fan (aka sound maker) gave out and we needed a new one. Also, Dave's slippers went missing (were stolen by some baby thieves), so he needed new ones.

While I was in the shoe department I came across these.

I brought them home and showed them to Gabe and he squealed with joy! It was so funny. He immediately tried them on and then kept pulling his pant legs up to look at them. I said, "It's Lightning McQueen!" and he repeated, "Lightning McQueen!" while he was running from the foyer to the front room to the kitchen to the living room and back to the foyer again. He didn't want to take them off when he went to bed, but got distracted by a baba.
